Griswold Family Vacation (July 2021)
No, it’s not the National Lampoon “Vacation” movie. Instead of going to Walley World, this Griswold family went to Hawaii. Megan, Connor, and Colton don’t appear in the photos below. I think they’re with the family, but they must be camera shy.

Ancestor Fought in Revolutionary War (July 4, 2021)
This Independence Day was made more interesting because I discovered that my fourth great grandfather on my mother’s side, Captain Jonathan Hildreth (1727 – 1805), fought in the Revolutionary War. He married Dinah Davis in 1759, and they had ten children, one of which was my third great grandfather, Adams Hildreth (1769 – 1825).

A Curious Visitor (July 2021)
We get all sorts of visitors in our backyard — skunks, coyotes, does, and fawns — but we rarely see a buck. Yesterday this curious fellow looked in our living room slider.

Milagro en España (June 2021)
Our 12-year-old grandson, Treyson, is an exceptionally good soccer player. Recently, he was recruited to play on an elite team that was being assembled to play in the Costa Girona Cup tournament in Girona, Spain. The team consisted of seven players from the U. S, two from Spain, and a girl from Thailand. The players from Spain and Thailand didn’t speak English, and the players never trained together as a team until they got to Spain. Despite their lack of experience as a team and the language barrier, they made it through the tournament quarterfinal and finally lost at the semifinal. For this team to travel to Spain, where soccer is a national pastime, and finish in the Top 4 is an amazing accomplishment. It really was a Milagro en España. Congratulations to Treyson and the team! Here is a photo of Treyson and his teammate, Josiah Escalante.

Meeting Grandma’s Family In Spain (June 2021)
Ann, Blair, and the boys spent a week before the soccer tournament in Andalucía meeting the family of Grandma’s maternal grandmother and grandfather. They really enjoyed meeting the Spanish relatives, as did Grandma and I when we visited Spain in 1991. Unfortunately, some of the relatives we met then, especially on the maternal grandfather’s side, are no longer with us.
After the family reunions, the Barnes family took the high-speed train to Barcelona. As you can see from the photos below, the boys must have been bored.

This has nothing to do with our family. I saw it on Instagram and thought it was interesting.
